About Leyla
Growing up in Bucharest, Romania, a city marked by a long and tumultuous history, my vivid memories of places worn by time and human touch were transformed into a private world, exploited in all my artwork. I use abstraction, as well as realism with a Trompe l’oeil approach. I am using universal symbols that can be similarly interpreted by most cultures. My art tells stories, raises questions, and offers answers through images created. I work intuitively, sometime the ideas are driven by the materials at hand, and, sometime about feelings I have. The work is hardly a simple representation of reality, but also a voyage to the inner self.
